from sd too? what part of town you from?
I've kinda lived all over (Mira Mesa, Scripps, Sorrento Valley) but have settled in Hillcrest in a decent studio. That image of downtown is amazing! Did you have to seem it together from multiple shots or did you use a wide enough lens to get it all in one shot? I've been here for 6 years and had never been to the Coronado ferry landing until I saw your picture.
wow never ever? its a cool island with nothing but foto opportunities. plus theres a really good gyro joint right next to there. ive lived in el cajon all my life and even tho it does get to be a big bore sometimes looking at downtown and stuff like that makes it a bit better. the two shots i did are called panoramic shots. take a tripod and take multiple shots of each section, then just put em in photoshop and it does the rest. one of em is with a normal zoom lense and the one with the rocks is a wide angle. luckily i have two brothers who are semi pro with great equipment and also i go to the art institute so i can rent out stuff. what kinda equipment you got?
i also recommend the cabrillo monument if you ever feel the mood to do some shots.
I went down there with a girl friend of mine last night because she had never been there either, and she's lived here longer than me. There were quite a few people taking pictures last night as well, and it was a perfect clear night for it. I do have a tripod, but my equipment is limited to a Canon XTi (with a broken LCD that I'll replace myself very soon) with a couple of lenses (35mm-80mm I think, and then a zoom that goes up to 210mm I believe). Digital photography is still very new to me so a lot of what I'm doing is trial and error until I can read up on it some more. Lately I've been wanting to take some shots when it's foggy, but those moments when it's been foggy have been rare.
